Does art imitate life or does life imitate art? For
Kelly Turnbull, looking to bring the fantasy world she devoured as a child to life, it was clearly a case of both. When Kelly, a Los Angeles-based animator and self-published web comic artist, visited Daemon in the Urban Primitive Studio to work on her next tattoo – a wild boar mixed into a collage of images, symbols and concepts that inspired her, as well as game patterns from “The Legend of Zelda” – Daemon clearly saw this as an opportunity to set the wheels of modern mythology in motion. Bridging the gap between the imaginary and real and working from this transitional space, he was able to apply Kelly’s modern mythology to her needs and adapt it to her current circumstances.
Come along on Kelly’s journey to her Zelda-inspired tattoo in “The Art of Transformation: Tattoo Journeys with Daemon Rowanchilde”.
Kelly, originally from Northern Manitoba, has had previous tattoo work done by Deamon. She first read about Daemon’s work on the blog Critink.
